In accordance with KEM Electric's payment policy, bills are considered past due if payment has not been received by the due date. Past due amounts are subject to penalty fees not to exceed 1 3/4% per month. In addition, a $30 fee will be applied for all payments not honored by the member's bank or other remitting institution.
If your bill is past due it is subject to disconnect. To avoid disconnect, you must make immediate payment. Once your services have been disconnected, reconnection of electric services requires full payment of all past due amounts due to the cooperative, including all disconnect and reconnect fees; and any other charges and deposits to guarantee payment for service. A Wiring Certificate may also be required.
Bills are processed and mailed on the 5th of every month.
Energy usage can fluctuate for many reasons, but one of the biggest factors is weather.
During extremely cold months, heating systems and plugged-in vehicles or equipment (like tractors) can increase usage.
In hot months, air conditioning or central air systems often run more frequently, using more electricity.
