Cooperative Scholarships
The deadline for cooperative scholarships has passed. We do have additional scholarship opportunities available at our Annual Meeting on June 10 in Linton. At our Annual Meeting will we be awarding five Luck-of-the-Draw Scholarships!
KEM Electric Cooperative takes pride in assisting with the development of rural leadership through our scholarship program. We feel it’s important to help finance our local students’ educational journeys by offering scholarships to qualifying seniors. We are happy to continue our updated program to include more scholarship opportunities to our graduating seniors.
KEM Electric Cooperative Luck of the Draw scholarships
KEM Electric will award five $500 Luck-of-the-Draw Scholarships to be drawn at our Annual Meeting on June 10 in Linton. All high school seniors (Class of 2025) who are dependents of KEM Electric members and have not previously been chosen for a KEM Electric scholarship are eligible for this scholarship. Students must attend our Annual Meeting and be accompanied with at least one parent or guardian. RSVP's are appreciated before the meeting but not required. Students must register to be eligible for the Luck-of-the-Draw scholarship at our Annual Meeting on June 10 in Linton.
*These additional scholarships come from three schools in our service area which we did not have a graduating senior scholarship application.


KEM Electric Cooperative $500 scholarships for students attending high school within the service area
KEM will award eight, $500 scholarships to qualified applicants whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are members of the co-op. KEM Electric will choose one graduating senior from Ashley, Wishek, Zeeland, Strasburg, Linton, Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock, Kidder County, and Napoleon to receive the funds.

KEM Electric Cooperative $500 scholarships for students attending high school outside the service area
The co-op will also award one $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from a homeschool setting, GED setting, or a school outside of our service area. The application is open to those whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are members of KEM Electric.

KEM Electric continues to award a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Basin Electric Power Cooperative
We award this scholarship to a student already enrolled, or planning to enroll, in a full-time graduate or undergraduate program. The student, whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are members of KEM Electric, must attend an accredited, two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/technical school. Recipients will be chosen on a combination of SAT/ACT scores and overall grade point average; activities, achievements and honors; work experience; a personal statement of career goals; an essay question centered on local cooperatives and how they serve the area; and an appraisal from a high school or college counselor or adviser, instructor or a work supervisor who knows the student well. All post-secondary students who have parents that are members of KEM Electric are eligible to apply. KEM Electric Cooperative $500 Lineworker Scholarship
KEM Electric is offering one $500 scholarship sponsored by 3C Construction, LLC. Owned in part by KEM Electric, 3C Construction employs linemen who travel, plowing cable and assisting with projects as needed.
The scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior enrolled in or planning to enroll in a certified vocational or technical school pursuing a career as a lineworker. The application is open to those whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are members of KEM Electric.
KEM Electric Cooperative $500 Mechanic Scholarship
KEM offering one $500 scholarship sponsored by West Dakota Utility Services, LLC. Owned in part by KEM Electric, WDUS services utility vehicles, farm trucks and machinery, and equipment that needs hydraulic repairs or N.D. Department of Transportation certification.
The scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior enrolled in or planning to enroll in a certified vocational or technical school pursuing a career as a mechanic. The application is open to those whose parent(s) or guardian(s) are members of KEM Electric.
