As a distribution cooperative, our mission is to power up the lives of consumers in four south central counties, ensuring they have access to dependable electricity whenever they need it.
Headquartered in Linton, North Dakota, we proudly serve the rural electric consumers across Emmons County, the south half of Kidder County, the western two-thirds of Logan County, and McIntosh County. Our commitment to the people and communities in these regions runs deep, and we take pride in being a trusted source of power for all.
KEM Electric Cooperative operates under a member-owned, cooperative structure, and we are guided by a seven-member Board of Directors. This dedicated team ensures that our cooperative operates efficiently and serves the best interests of our members. Our cooperative is divided into five districts, each represented by a director, along with two at-large directors, to ensure comprehensive representation and decision-making.
Covering an extensive service area spanning approximately 3,708 square miles, our terrain boasts a diverse landscape of rolling hills and flat farmland. Our transmission lines stretch over 122 miles, complemented by 2,934 miles of overhead distribution lines and 675 miles of underground distribution lines. Currently, we proudly serve 3,902 meters, ensuring that homes, farms, and businesses in our service area have access to the essential power they need to thrive.
